WSET Digital Certificate

What are the key benefits of digital certificates?

Digital certificates bring you a huge range of benefits, including the following:

  • You receive your certificate much faster via email than by post
  • You can share your results more easily on social media, with employers, and can print your own certificate
  • Digital certificates are secure and easily verifiable online
  • Digital certificates are better for the environment and more sustainable in the long-term 
Digital badges accompany all digital certificates. They can be embedded into email signatures and once clicked they will enable direct access to your digital certificate. See our Using your Digital Certificate page for more information.
Yes. Unlike easily-editable print or PDF certificates, digital certificates are more secure. 
As part of the switch to digital certificates, physical pins will be switched to digital badges. We understand that the physical pins are still very important to many of our students and alumni. Please speak to your APP about physical badge availability.
If you received paper certificate after your course, a digital certificate will not be provided. If you wish to order a digital copy, please visit our web shop and select Replacement Certificates to order a digital replacement. Discounts apply if you order digital replacements for multiple qualifications.

Digital certificates and badges are secure, instantly accessible credentials that showcase your course achievements.
The transition reflects SSA’s commitment to modernization and sustainability:
  • Faster delivery – no waiting for the post.
  • Easy sharing – add to LinkedIn, email signatures, and resumes.
  • Secure storage – never worry about losing your certificate.
  • Instant verification – each certificate includes a QR code for employers to scan.
Digital Certificates will launch on Earth Day: April 22, 2025. From here all CSS certificates will be issued digitally by default.
Yes! Your digital certificate contains official metadata and a QR code so employers can easily verify it.
For now, only the Certified Sake Sommelier (CSS) course is transitioning. More courses will follow.
  • Your certificate and badge will be sent to your email after you pass your course.
  • Make sure your Sake Educator has your correct email address.
Check your spam/junk folder first. If it’s still missing, contact your Sake Educator.

Each certificate includes a QR code:
  • Employers and industry professionals can scan it to verify your credentials instantly.

Yes! Ask your Sake Educator if you want a paper certificate.
Yes! All students will receive a physical badge at no extra cost.
Yes! Ask your Sake Educator to request a digital version of your past certificate. A £25 fee applies for this service.
No, SSA does not require students to create an account or share additional personal data.
